Why Guests Stay at DeBourge Guesthouse
There are many reasons why our guests decide to stay with us, instead of other local options. Some are looking for a unique experience that they cannot get at a hotel. Others have a larger group and our house’s makeup of guestrooms and bathrooms is the most convenient for the group. Katy Trail riders are excited to learn that we will pick up from the trail at no additional charge. Read More

During the winter months, the bed & breakfast business is typically slow in Missouri wine country. We are happy that our business has been a lot busier this winter season than normal, but that has not stopped us from working on improving our guest experience for the upcoming season. These improvements touch a lot of different areas around the house. Read More
We are very excited to be mentioned in a recent volume of Feast Magazine (April 29, 2016) as a place to stay in Washington, MO. The article focuses on many of the fine restaurants we have in town. While much of the information about DeBourge House is out of date, we truly appreciate the publicity!
On August 21 2017, a very rare and awe-inspiring event will take place along a very narrow band of land in the heartland. At 1:15pm, Washington, Missouri will have a perfect view of a total eclipse of the sun, turning day into night for several minutes. While a wider band will experience a partial eclipse, Washington is in the 70-mile wide band that will experience totality. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the earth, casting a shadow on the earth’s surface. 2017 will be the first time in 38 years a total solar eclipse has occurred in the continental United States.
With a year under our belt as Bed & Breakfast owners, there are several things we learned in 2015 that we want to improve for our guests in 2016. As we approach the spring season, guests will notice some changes to the house and to our online presence.
In the Spring 2016 issue of Show-Me Missouri, a travel magazine focused on showing readers all that Missouri has to offer, features DeBourge Guesthouse as its place to stay. Show-Me Missouri contributor, Elizabeth Hey, stayed overnight this past winter and her review can be found here.
Airbnb is Changing the Lodging Landscape
There has been a lot of change in the way we provide and consume services over the past couple years. Many people are fans of a new “sharing economy” where individuals take on what they may consider a little inconvenience for a little fee. Two areas where this has been most prevalent have been in transportation and in lodging. Rather than hiring a taxi, more and more people are relying on Uber to go from A to B. In short-term lodging, individuals are looking at Airbnb.
